Most accountants serving small businesses have never run an audit. Lam spent eighteen years doing little else — at Deloitte, at Ernst & Young leading engagement teams for Fortune 500 oil and gas companies, and for nearly a decade at MaloneBailey, where he rose to senior manager and ran the firm's private audit practice.
That matters for an unglamorous reason. When your bank asks for reviewed financial statements, or a surety wants audited numbers before it will bond a job, the person reading them is applying standards Lam spent his career applying — and teaching. He performed engagement quality control reviews and built firmwide training on revenue recognition, leases and business combinations. He knows what a reviewer looks for because he was the reviewer.
In December 2025 he opened his own practice. The work is smaller now and that is deliberate: taxes, monthly books, payroll, and the compiled, reviewed and audited statements that lenders ask for — handled directly, by him, for owners who would rather call a person than a call center.
